Jr Demand Planner 

  • Are you interested in a demand planner role within a LEGO Business Unit (BU). Accountable for delivering the short-term demand plan for a group of customers. Your work is key to an effective BU S&OP process, helping the business to deliver its commercial targets.   

Your combined commercial knowledge of the LEGO Business Unit and demand planning technical mastery makes you a trusted partner to the BU Ops and Commercial Teams. You provide valuable insight and analysis to support gap closing initiatives and the accuracy of your forecasts has a direct impact on supply chain efficiency and customer product availability.  

This is a temporary position until the end of 2024. 

Core Responsibilities   

  • Building upon a statistical forecast you will deliver a weekly demand plan for a significant part of the BU’s revenue covering a rolling 9 month horizon.  
  • The monthly forecast covers Sell In at SKU level and Consumer Sales at franchise level.  
  • You are tasked with ensuring demand plans accurately reflect known marketing activities, product launch timings and promotional activities both LEGO and customer funded.  
  •  Support sales and marketing to evaluate the likely impact of commercial investments.  
  • Partner with Brand Managers in their franchise planning for the full horizon ensuring alignment of assumptions. This will include monthly BU Brand Assumptions Review Meetings.  
  • You will set appropriate forecast exception message parameters and respond to forecast exception messages as part of your daily rigour.  
  • Ensure monthly data is uploaded into planning system.  
  • Responsible for key data feeds to the statistical model are kept up to date by the relevant data owners.  
  • Support the effective life cycle management of new products by ensuring launch plans are accurately reflected within the demand planning tools.  
  • You will support the effective life cycle management of exit products by ensuring effective management of customer stock levels and providing the latest information on the most likely demand.  
  • You will be measured on your ability to accurately forecast Consumer Sales and Customer Sell In, key metrics include spread of forecast error and the level of bias.  
  • Furthermore, you will support the BU S&OP processes, playing an active role in gap closing and helping to prepare business cases.  
  • You will ensure effective communication with Market Group demand planning ensuring top-down strategies are understood within the BUs whilst also providing the Market Group demand planners with clarity of key BU specific initiatives across the full forecasting horizon.

The role supports the broader business to evaluate the volume and value (revenue and profit) of the existing plans, enabling senior management to identify gaps to target and to take corrective action. The output of their work is also used by supply chain to ensure the right products are manufactured at the right time, maximizing In Stock Availability whilst avoiding the generation of waste.  

The demand planner role is “multilingual” as it is used to inform supply chain (volume) and commercial planning processes (value)  

Do you have what it takes?   

  • Preferably degree educated in a business management, engineering, mathematics or statistics-based field or proven analytical skills developed through on the job experience.  
  • Experience working within a consumer goods environment.  
  • Previous demand planning experience  
  • An ability to master complexity.  
  • Able to communicate in a way that makes the complex simple.  
  • Able to assimilate multiple data inputs and determine a most likely outcome.  
  • An ability to influence senior colleagues.  
  • A solid understanding of statistics.  
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Continuous improvement mind set.  
  • Experience of working within a supply chain environment and/or commercial environment is preferential.
