Adevinta operates two services on the Italian market: horizontal platform connecting buyers and sellers and a car trading platform.

We’re looking for a passionate DevOps Engineer to join our local Platform & Tools Team to reinforce our team.

In you will collaborate with Product Owners, UX designers and Software Engineers to deliver game changing products. We have a strong “you built it, you run it” approach, so you will automatically deploy and monitor your services to identify issues before our customers do. We move fast with a no-blame approach. Deploy with courage, and if you break it then fix it!


Typical day in Adevinta Italy

  • Catch up with your team in a stand-up meeting
  • Check the health of your applications
  • Share updates with other engineers from across the company
  • Work on the stories in your sprint: write code, test and deploy!
  • Monitor your changes as they go live
  • Review the code of your teammates
  • Take a break with a free coffee or by playing foosball or ping pong with your colleagues


Your skill profile:

  • Relevant professional experience in the Tech industry
  • Expertise in design, analysing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
  • Proficiency with one of the configuration management tools, such as Saltstack, Ansible or Puppet and infrastructure as Code concepts
  • Proficiency with monitoring and alerting solutions in a cloud environment (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana)
  • Proficiency with at least one programming language
  • Familiarity with Container-as-a-Service solutions such as Marathon / Mesosphere or Nomad
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes
  • Additionally, the experience with some of the following technologies or programming languages is desirable: Python / Go, hardware and software load balancers, OpenStack, Google Cloud Platform


Your responsibilities:

  • Dive deep into system and application performance and reliability issues; partner with software engineers across the organisation to produce and roll out fixes and improvements
  • Seek issues across the entire stack. Tackle problems relating to mission-critical services and build automation and monitoring to help prevent problem recurrence
  • Engage in service planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis and system tuning
  • Participation in on-call standby rotation (after on-boarding period)
