Compressor Design Engineer

The Design Engineer takes ownership of all the design activities on assigned centrifugal/axial compressor and turboexpander projects, issuing the associated technical documentation. He/she works according to the highest technology and quality standards, developing innovative solutions to meet contractual requirements in compliance with applicable industry standards.

As Design Engineer you’ll be responsible for:

  • Carry out design activities, leveraging on a sound knowledge of engineering principles and exploiting BH design tools and procedures. Main design areas include thermodynamic performance optimization, rotordynamic analysis, definition of machine layout and cross-section, mechanical and aerodynamic design verification, material selection.
  • Be responsible for the timely issue of technical documentation and drawings, ensuring their consistency with engineering policies and contractual specifications.
  • Collaborate to Engineering or cross-functional initiatives on Company priorities such as quality, cost control, design standard updates, with the purpose of improving product competitiveness.
  • Provide Engineering support to other TPS functions interacting with Commercial, Manufacturing, and Sourcing teams, on activities that span the whole life cycle of projects from the formulation of a technical proposal up to the assembly and testing of the unit at BH facilities.
  • Work together with Service team on the resolution of technical issues that may occur during commissioning and site operation.
  • Lead Design Reviews and technical meetings with management and/or customer representatives, to share updates on project status and present the results of performed activities.
  • Manage global and local suppliers taking under control engineering hours and on time delivery.

To be successful in this role you will: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace specialization preferred)
  • Solid background in mechanical, thermodynamic and fluid dynamic engineering;
  • basic knowledge of FEA, CFD, modal analysis
  • Proven experience within an engineering organization, preferably matured on Turbomachinery design.
  • Use of CAD software (e.g. Unigraphics)
  • EU work permit
  • Fluency in both English and Italian

 

Combustion Design Engineer

As a Combustion Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible for conceiving ideas supporting the conceptual design of innovative combustion systems for Gas Turbine applications. By analyzing the combustion process and reacting flows with zero/one dimensional computational models and CFD simulation, and developing flow network and thermal model for analysis and design of Gas Turbine Combustion chamber

As a Combustion Design Engineer you will be responsible also for:

  • Developing analysis regarding the impact of fuels characteristics both gaseous and liquid on GT combustion process
  • Designing and executing combustors test and/or combustor components.
  • Developing acoustic and thermoacoustic analysis
  • Preparing work packages for outsourcing of engineering work when required
  • Presenting ideas and analysis results through design reviews and drawing signoffs
  • Document the work by technical report
  • Supporting designs from concept through fleet utilization.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical engineer or similar fields
  • Have knowledge in combustion, in particular thermo-fluid dynamic of GT Combustion chamber
  • Have CFD simulation interest and experience (Ansys Fluent, COMSOL Multiphysics-Acoustics)
  • Have experience in using CAD 3D ((UGS NX) for aero model definition
  • Have full professional proficiency in English
  • Be a Team player
  • Have Thermochemical – Kinetics codes knowledge (e. g. Chemkin)

 

Mechanical Design Engineer

As a Mechanical Design Engineer you’ll be responsible for the mechanical detailed design and the requisition activities of all auxiliary systems required for Gas Turbine driven trains. You’ll assure balance between design flexibility needs and strict product standardization adoption leading supply chain goals accomplishment, cost-out strategies’ implementation, site installation/service support.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Defining plant layout of gas turbine driven train auxiliary systems, including 3D modelling.
  • Issuing technical documentation of assigned jobs, guaranteeing quality, completeness, consistency and alignment with customer and internal standards.
  • Designing of mechanical auxiliary systems, performing the necessary calculations for systems sizing and components selection
  • Leading technical alignment with suppliers and support the manufacturing team during assembly phase
  • Being part of a team focused on development of documentation dedicated to Quality and continuous improvement aspects.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering with relevant work experience in Engineering/Technology.
  • Be able to use design/modelling software such as parametric 3D CAD (NX or similar) and 2D (Autocad)
  • Have a basic knowledge of industrial manufacturing process and materials
  • Show knowledge of International Standard and capability to model physic behavior through specific tools (ANSYS, CAESAR, Matlab/Simulink)
  • Be a clear thinker: Make decisions with speed and accuracy based on best available information
  • Show interpersonal skills and ability to interface effectively with different levels of the organization and external Customers
  • Be fluent both in English and Italian and hold an EU work permit
